Role/Responsibilities
The Amber site manager is responsible for ensuring that a construction project is completed on time and within budget working alongside the amber Project manager or Amber Partner
- Supervising and overseeing the direction of the project (or a package)
- Ensuring that the client’s specifications and requirements are met
- Reviewing progress and liaising with the Project Manager to monitor costs
- Liaising with the client, other construction professionals and sometimes members of the public
- Have confidence in own ability to intelligently communicate with design team/client as well as effectively lead the trades
- Ensure the delivery against the project schedule ‘the programme of works’ and write short term schedules of works / programmes when necessary
- Monitor site safety on a regular basis and ensure that the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act are enforced
- Coordinating and supervising construction workers
- Monitor and maintain the project construction schedule on a weekly basis and highlight / forecast risk with the project programme if required
- Maintain and enforce good construction standards and quality control
- Raise and discuss relevant issues at the job site meetings
- Prepare and issue minutes of all site meetings in a timely manner
- Control and monitor labour, material and equipment expenses in line with the project prelim allowance
- Maintaining quality control procedures
- Negotiating securing permits and licences
- Ensure all required municipal inspections are performed
- Prepare and expedite project snag lists in a timely manner
Qualifications:
To be considered for this position you will possess the following skills, attributes, and abilities:
- Minimum 3 Years’ experience as a Site Manager on new or refurbishment styles of construction in commercial and residential, projects
- College or university NVQ / degree in a construction related field (trade background training is acceptable)
- Be SMSTS qualified
- Be first aid at work trained
- Ideally hold a black CSCS safety card
- Ideally have asbestos awareness training
- Ideally have PASMA training
- Must understand construction terms, scheduling and planning concepts
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and ideally have experience using Excel and Microsoft Project
- Excellent organisational, presentation, and interpersonal skills

Role/Responsibilities
- Review the project plans and specifications and comment on the building design, scheduling, possible cost savings measures and potential construction problems
- Preparation of the project schedule ‘the programme of works’
- Assist the partner or commercial manager in preparation of project budget
- Prepare the general construction budget including cost and value reconciliation
- Assist in assembling the project site office and equipment requirements
- Have confidence in own ability to intelligently communicate with design team/client as well as effectively lead the trades
- Expedite all shop drawings and approvals in a timely manner in line with the project procurement schedule
- Monitor and maintain the project construction schedule on a weekly basis and highlight / forecast risk with the project programme if required
- Raise and discuss relevant issues at the job site meetings
- Prepare and issue minutes of all site meetings
- Inform the Consultant/Client of any errors, discrepancies or omissions contained within the Consultant’s design drawings
- Expedite all CCN and CO (change order) costs. Maintain current CO logs and ensure reconciliation with the client / consultant
- Monitor site safety and ensure that the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act are enforced
- Ensure completion of and track all independent testing and inspections as required
- Issue monthly progress applications for payment and invoicing to consultant and client including final retentions
- Maintain and enforce good construction standards and quality control
- Control and monitor labour, material and equipment expenses
- Prepare monthly cost forecasting summaries and present these to the business partners on a monthly basis
- Ensure that “as built” drawings are prepared on an on-going basis by all trades during the construction period and issue final close outs to consultant/client accordingly
- Ensure all required municipal inspections are performed.
- Prepare and expedite project snag lists in a timely manner
